At Detroit Home Builders, our mission has always been simple:
Train, develop, and place the next generation of skilled workers right here in our community.
We’re proud to share that our work is now being recognized on a larger stage. Detroit Home Builders was recently featured in a news article by WDIV/ClickOnDetroit highlighting our hands-on construction training program and its impact on workforce development in Detroit.
📣 A Program Built With Purpose
Our Construction Craft Laborer Pre-Apprenticeship Program was designed to do more than just teach basic skills.
It was built to create real opportunities.
Participants in our program receive:
144 hours of structured, hands-on training
OSHA 30 construction certification
Exposure to real job site conditions
Direct pathways into paid work experience
We focus on core skills including:
Roofing
Flooring
Painting
General home repair and maintenance
Every aspect of the program is designed to prepare individuals for success in the construction industry — even if they are starting with no prior experience.
🔨 From Training to Career Pathways
One of the most important aspects of our program is what happens after training.
Graduates are not left to figure things out on their own.
Through our partnerships with organizations such as SEMCA Michigan Works, Detroit at Work (DESC), and Henry Ford College, participants have access to:
Employment opportunities
Continued education pathways
Entry into our Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)
This creates a true pipeline from training to long-term career.
