Detroit Home Builders Congratulates Our MARC I Graduates on Their Achievement

Dearborn, MI — 11/21/2025 — Detroit Home Builders LLC is proud to celebrate a major milestone in our mission to train, empower, and uplift Detroit’s future construction workforce. This week, we honored five exceptional students who successfully completed our MARC I Pre-Apprenticeship Program, delivered in collaboration with Henry Ford College.

Our MARC I graduates are:

  • Braden Legins

  • Nakieta Hall

  • Derek McKenney

  • Rylon Robinson

  • Cameron Vit

Each graduate completed rigorous training that included OSHA 30 construction certification, construction safety, power tools and hand tools, blueprint basics, job readiness, and essential workforce skills. Their dedication exemplifies the mission of Detroit Home Builders—to prepare Detroit residents for long-term, high-growth careers in the construction trades.

Advancing to MARC II: From Classroom to Job Site

All five graduates are now moving into MARC II, where they will begin part-time employment as pre-apprentices. This next stage allows them to apply what they’ve learned while receiving structured on-the-job training in basic residential construction.

MARC II is where the transition from “student” to “skilled worker” truly begins—and we’re proud to guide them every step of the way.

Generous Support for Our Students

Detroit Home Builders extends heartfelt appreciation to the organizations that helped equip our graduates for success:

Carhartt Donation

Through Carhartt’s generosity, each student received:

  • Work boots

  • Work pants

  • Work shirt

  • Work jacket

This high-quality gear provides the foundational clothing needed to perform safely and confidently on the job.

Tool Kit Support from SEMCA Michigan Works!

Thanks to SEMCA’s partnership, each graduate also received a Starter Tool Kit, including:

  • Tool bag & tool belt

  • PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety vest)

  • Essential starter tools for residential construction

This equipment ensures that every student enters MARC II fully prepared for hands-on training and real-world work environments.
