Detroit Home Builders Signs Partnership Agreement with SEMCA to Expand Pre-Apprenticeship Opportunities

By Detroit Home Builders

We’re proud to officially announce that Detroit Home Builders has entered into a formal partnership with SEMCA Michigan Works! to deliver our state-certified Construction Craft Laborer Pre-Apprenticeship Program across the region.

This new agreement opens the door for more young adults to access industry-recognized training through the MARC I & II certification pathway, which includes OSHA 30, hands-on construction labs, and direct connections to employment.

Through this collaboration, SEMCA will help eligible participants access tuition funding, supportive services like tools and transportation, and wraparound job readiness resources.

In turn, Detroit Home Builders will deliver our proven 144-hour curriculum and provide a direct pathway into our U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program.

“This isn’t just about training—it’s about building futures. We’re giving Wayne County residents a clear path to careers in construction, and now we can do it at scale,” said AnThony Legins, President of Detroit Home Builders.

What This Means:

  • Fully funded training for eligible youth (ages 18–24)

  • Direct interviews for our Registered Apprenticeship upon graduation

  • Two locations available: Grand River in Detroit and Henry Ford College in Dearborn (coming soon!)

We’ve poured years of work into designing a pre-apprenticeship model that actually works—and this partnership helps bring it to more people who need it most.

Applications are now open. If you or someone you know is ready to start a career in construction, this is the moment to take that first step.
