A National Call to Action for Skilled Trades

On April 23, 2025, President Trump issued a game-changing Executive Order focused on expanding high-paying skilled trade jobs and strengthening Registered Apprenticeship Programs across the country.

At Detroit Home Builders LLC, we are proud to be on the front lines of that mission.

We believe that building a stronger America starts with building a stronger workforce — and that’s exactly what we’ve been doing through our state-certified pre-apprenticeship and U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship programs.

Our Model: Training Workers While Rebuilding Communities

What sets us apart?

We train individuals with no prior experience in construction.
We provide OSHA 30 certification, classroom instruction, and on-the-job training.
Our apprentices gain real-world experience by renovating vacant homes and building affordable workforce housing in Detroit.

This is a model that works — and one that can scale nationwide.

Our Message to the White House

In response to the Executive Order, I recently sent a formal letter to the White House offering Detroit Home Builders as a national pilot site to help expand this work across the country.

We’re asking for the opportunity to:

Create over 1,000 new skilled trade jobs
Partner on a federally supported workforce training initiative
Offer a low-cost, high-impact model for both training and housing development

Why It Matters — and Why Now

America is facing a skilled labor shortage — and cities like Detroit are filled with both people who need opportunity and properties that need rebuilding.
